Current (as of 7 Sept 2010) implementation of the Tally Pentaho reporting has two files:
Latest Tally Output
Mifos- Tally GL Interface
The Mifos- Tally GL Interface report has to be run prior to running Latest Tally Output to generate the file that will be downloaded by the user and used to import into Tally. There are implied steps that won't be obvious to the user, and have room for user error. To mitigate that risk I recommend we do the following until we have a more elegant solution.
1. Reorder the files above so the first run to run is listed first - so rename files so Latest Tally Output is listed last (e.g. Tally Output - Latest). Names could also include some prompt, e.g. "Mifos-Tally GL interface (run first)"
2. Add instruction text to the Latest Tally Output form which displays "download the output" and "run in background". Instructions would include the following points:
Run Mifos- Tally GL Interface report first for valid date range.
Leave the "true and no" options alone (can we hide these??)
Save file that is opened and ready to import to the name displayed on the top of the GL interface report - e.g. MifosAccountingExport-2010-04-01.xml (not .html)
