Creating linux drivers for receipt printers for offline printing

Description

Request from Sahadev on Mifos Users list.

Our organisation, an MFI  with 18000 members and working in 140
villages has decided to use  MIFOS software  for which work is going
on . To overcome last mile connectivity problems, we are proposing to
use an offline data collection utility through lap top comuputers and
mobile receipt printers. We have installed debian linux in our lap
tops. But the receipt printers  available in the market and evaluated
by us have only Windows drivers. Just for the sake of printing
receipts, we may have to go for Windows, abandoning linux. Moreover,
the linux version supplied by C-Dac, India has the option to work in
any Indian language, making it easy for our staff who are high school
graduates, to easily learn the nuances of computers.  The difference
in cost for us us approximately USD 7000. Can any volunteer try to
help us by writing/ compiling drivers  for the mobile printer choosen by us.
