Overview

As mobile money continues to grow around the world, more and more MFIs required tighter integration with the incoming payment data from these mobile money platforms to achieve greater efficiency, better analytics and improved data integrity.

Kopo Kopo (http://www.kopokopo.com) offers a secure, web-based service that enables organizations to process M-Pesa Pay Bill payments in real-time as well as engage and track customers via a suite of value-added services.

Background and Business Need

Currently Mifos is integrated with Kenya's mobile money platform, M-Pesa, via a plugin that manually imports a spreadsheet of m-pesa transactions that is generated by Safaricom.  This integration was developed for Mifos users, KEEF, in Kenya.

Integration with KopoKopo would improve upon this by offering real-time automated integration as well as a platform-agnostic integration point. KopoKopo is aggressively growing and will soon be adding support for the other 3 leading mobile money platforms in Kenya with plans to extend to the leading mobile money platforms in Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda.

Project Supporters(s)

Nuru International will be using KopoKopo. KopoKopo is looking to sign on additional Mifos users throughout Kenya.

Project Status

• 11.16.2011 - Demo of KopoKopo along with discussion of integration scheduled for November 22, 2011.
