Mifos at Rudrama MACS
- Sahadev has played an instrumental role at the deployment.
- Sahadev drove all the data migration himself and brought on participation from IT team.
Rudrama MACS presentation
- Started 14 years ago by two individuals in 1 village - grown 140/150 villages in 2 states in India
- Initially Rudrama MACS received support from OxFam for administrative purpose through 2003 and then was operating independently
- All members are women, all of the board of directors are women, majority of employees are women.
- Institution is self-supported by internal resources only, no external resources - follows individual lending, group guarantee and approval members.
- Loans are based on saving accumulated by members, thrift savings 9% per annum - for every 1R of savings, get 3R of loans.
- Loans rate of interest is 18% per annum Diminishing balance.
- Hardware/Upgradation - led to 15-20 day delays.
- Couldn't get information from software - none of board, staff - in terms of interest overdue
- Looked for Mifos and chose because:
- Power only available for 12 hours.
- Local language is very important - staff only familiar with this.
- Nearby and local partner in Hugo
- Collection sheet extracted every 2 months and then uploaded back into Mifos
- Shows amount due to members, displays amount collected, data is back to office in afternoon,evening
Future Needs
- Need automatic receipt generation to present fraud
Public AMI is just available in US East (virginia) region
