Charges (fees and penalties) can be charged to saving accounts in three ways:

  • Charges are inherited from the product definition. A Mifos user may have the ability to remove one or more of these charges for a saving account. When a charge is removed from a saving account, other saving accounts are not affected.
  • Charges (not yet associated with the saving account) can be selected and attached to the saving account.
  • Miscellaneous charges (one time charge) can be charged to a saving account. The Mifos user specifies the amount, which is added in the next payment.

Charge may be added at the time of saving account application and when a saving account is Pending Approval, Approved, and Active. Adding a charge to a saving account does not affect the saving account's status.
