Product Management for Mifos X

We’re seeking volunteers to support our product manager by drafting out business requirements and functional specifications to position our community to build out our platform to keep pace with the evolution of the sector.

Background

 

The potential for financial inclusion to uplift the poor is recognized universally worldwide,  yet the way in which it reaches each individual client is different in each corner of the globe. To achieve the greatest impact for those living at the base of the pyramid, financial access must be brought directly to the unbanked with affordability, accessibility, convenience and value in mind.   

 

What makes the Mifos X platform so powerful is that it is flexible and extensible enough to support the range of products and services, operational methodologies, delivery channels, and accessibility requirements that must be supported for truly responsible financial inclusion.

Product Development for the Mifos X platform and community app is driven by the requirements from and users and partners. We solicit these requirements and prioritize them by need and potential scale of impact and reach in our roadmap.

Here is just a sampling of some of the areas you could help with:

  • Financial products and services like current accounts, micro-pensions, term deposits, agricultural loans, housing loans
  • Product design and specifications for offline modes when connectivity is down, mobile apps for data entry in the field, tablet apps for surveys in the field, integration with mobile payment platforms, CRM capabilities, workflow and rules engines, security and authentication measures.  
  • Business intelligence tools for social performance management, advanced business intelligence, predictive analytics, data visualizations, and more.

Impact

Are you a product manager or business analyst that wants to listen to the needs of the poor, and shape how cutting edge technologies like cloud computing and mobile banking can be used to fulfill those needs? In this role, you’ll work directly with the organizations in the field delivering financial services to the poor to take their requirements and craft them into user stories and functional specifications that can then be built by our community on top of the Mifos X platform.
