To run Mifos in Jetty -

  1. download and install jetty distribution 7.3.1
  2. Set the following environment variables:
  • JAVA_HOME ... directory where the JDK or JRE is installed
  • JAVA ... points directly to java binary
  • JETTY_HOME ... directory where Jetty is installed
  • JAVA_OPTIONS ... -Xms1024M -Xmx1024M -XX:MaxPermSize=256m
  1. Copy the mifos.war you downloaded to JETTY_HOME/webapps. If the
following temporary directory exist, delete it: JETTY_HOME/webapps/mifos
  1. Empty work directory: Make sure that JETTY_HOME/work exists, but is empty e.g. via:
cd JETTY_HOME; rm -rf work; mkdir work
  2. Start Jetty from the jetty directory:
     java -Xms1024M -Xmx1024M -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -jar start.jar
(or use the jetty.sh or jetty-cygwin.sh in bin/ - although they seem to work less well than the simple java -jar start.jar, under Windows at least)
  3. tbd - configuration settings for unique port, etc?
