The Mifos Initiative has been selected as a Mentoring Organization for the 2016 Google Summer of Code. We will be working with seven interns for the program. We had a record number of proposals for the Mifos Initiative so are looking to offer additional internships outside of Summer of Code to the ten students we wanted to select for GSOC but weren't able to.

Interim Period:	Would-be students discuss project ideas with potential mentoring organizations.	COMPLETE
14 March - 25 March	Student application period	COMPLETE - 115 PROPOSALS RECEIVED
Interim Period:	Mentoring organizations review and rank student proposals; where necessary, mentoring organizations may request further proposal detail from the student applicant.
15 April:	Slot allocations published to mentoring organizations
18 April:	All mentors must be signed up and all student proposals matched with a mentor Student acceptance choice deadline.	COMPLETE - 17 SLOTS REQUESTED, 7 SLOTS RECEIVED.
22 April: 1600 UTC	Accepted student proposals announced on the Google Summer of Code 2016 site.	COMPLETE - 7 INTERNS SELECTED
Community Bonding Period:	Students get to know mentors, read documentation, get up to speed to begin working on their projects.	ONGOING
23 May:	Students begin coding for their Google Summer of Code projects
27 June: 1900 UTC	Mid-term evaluations deadline
17 August:	Suggested 'pencils down' date. Take a week to scrub code, write tests, improve documentation, etc.
15 August - 23 August: 1900 UTC	Students tidy code, write tests, improve documentation and submit their code sample. Students also submit their final mentor evaluation.
29 August: 1900 UTC	Mentors submit final student evaluations.
30 August:	Final results of Google Summer of Code 2015 announced
