Purpose

The purpose of this page is to collate decisions and to provide guidance with respect to terminology and language usage in preparing Mifos X platform and Community App documentation.

General Approach

Follow the Microsoft Manual of Style. Most of us seem to have access to Version 3.0. If you would like a copy, please notify Ed or Dayna.

Terminology (Specific to Mifos)

financial institution

Financial institutions are Mifos platform / Mifos Community App customers and potential customers. When referring to financial institutions in documentation NOT use:

  • MFI
  • organization
  • institution
customer

Financial institutions who use the Mifos platform / Mifos Community App are Mifos "customers". Do NOT use the term "client" when referring to Mifos platform / Mifos Community App customers.

clientUse the term "client" when referring to the customers / clients / members of a financial institution.
